BOAC FLYING BOAT SERVICES, Southampton Water. Flying boat services had been operating from Southampton since 1919. After the Second World War, BOAC started a new service from a terminal in the Old Docks in April 1948, with destinations including Australia, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Karachi and Tokyo. By November 1950 they had withdrawn the service as uneconomic. A new airline, Aquila, continued flying boat services from Southampton until 1958. Aerofilms Collection (see Links).
