OLD ST STEPHEN'S CLOISTER, Palace of Westminster, London. St Stephen's Cloister was part of the old Palace of Westminster, and dates from 1526-9. The vaulted roof of the lower walk (seen here) contains the arms and symbols of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. It was intergrated into the new Houses of Parliament by Charles Barry in 1836 onward. Today the lower walk is a cloakroom. Photographed around 1900. Howarth-Loomes Collection.
